Should it be "not guilty of the murder" instead?

TAMPA, Fla. - It took the jury four hours to find murder defendant Keith Gaillard not guilty in the murder of India Clark.

Should it be "not guilty of the murder" instead?

Thanks!

@tanguatlay,
I prefer that, but in is probably OK in that it assumes we’re talking about the court case as in.

‘not guilty in the case of the murder of India Clark.’

Like I said earlier I prefer “ not guilty of the murder,” but that doesn’t mean the original is incorrect. It’s American English too, which has its own peculiarities.
