Letters from a grave or the wailing wall in isreal

Have this happened to you before that a person or is it a cultural thing people leaving letters from a grave or the wailing wall. I opened the letter that someone left in my coat at our high school and I knew "that it was wrong" from the start. Is this something you think that someone would have another motive than a group of kids (unnoticed and not someone I ever got to see before). I could barely read in german back then but i knew it was english and spanish and it seemed to be personal reflections and very religious. This was also a lot of processes and political about south africa, USA and etc you know. Also people being religious just before the tragic accidents in NY and the hurricane catastrophes.
