Hi Mary, Glad all is well. I’m ok. Just busy now that school holidays are over.
Should "Glad" be in lower case?
Thanks!
@tanguatlay,
I see why it is capitalized. Consider this form.
Quote:Dear Sir,
We talked on Friday about the horse.
If you put a new line after the salutation, the capitalization is correct. Of course the lack of a verb in the first sentence is also not formal English.

I did a quick Google survey (ie searching for 'letters from the queen' etc in Google images and looking at the scanned letters that are generally the result).
-The Queen seems to use a comma and capital
Dear Mr Subject,
Thank you for...
-The President seems to use a colon and capital
Dear Mr Fellow American:
Thank you for..
-The Pope generally uses a comma but NO capital
Dear Mr Believer,
thank you for...
An observation rather than an answer, but if you wanted a precedent...

In my opinion, the first word following a salutation (in this case "Glad") should be capitalized. I googled it, and this response quote made me laugh.
I guess the Pope isn't infallible after all .
