I don't use either. Apparently Netscape is full of crap. I find Firefox doesn't work effectively on my machine.

Just a Celeron 900 - I use Deepnet as my browser and I'm very happy with it. I had too many problems with Firefox so I removed it.

I'm using firefox. Why do I have firefox? I don't know. I guess I liked the banner and it seemed to be good at not allowing crap to be downloaded.

Netscape released the source code of their browser to the community. this source code was made "open source" and was adopted under the codename "Mozilla". Firefox is the latest release of the Mozilla browser. Netscape 8 is based off the exact same code base as firefox, so the two should be very similar.

netscape 8 however contains two "rendering engines", the Internet Explorer engine, and the mozilla engine. the user can switch between the two at the click of a button. What this allows the user to do is switch to IE mode to access sites unaccessible from firefox, such as some bank websites etc.
