What should I do?

Little bit of info about me first- Im a 13 year old girl who has recently had some heart related medical problems. So for a little bit of background info i will give you some events leading up to this. In november 2019 I was about 12 and went almost completely blind for two months. The doctors didn't do anything about it and told me it was just anxiety. When this was happening I was unable to do school or anything that involved reading or writing. I would also get really bad headaches, arm aches, eye pain and chest pain. By the middle of january 2020 it went back to normal. Around june 2020 (i'm a competitive gymnast) during practice I would notice that sometimes I would get slightly dizzy and a little blind when running around or tumbling. By august 2020 I was at the point where I was nearly passing out every time I did anything with physical exertion, would go almost completely blind, was unable to speak or hear at times and could only mumble. In october 2020 it had gotten even worse so I went to the doctor, they said I was borderline anemic so I needed iron pills, but other then that it was just anxiety. In january 2021 it got so bad that at times I could barely leave my bed to go to school, and was constantly falling to the floor screaming in pain. I got a exercise stress test, and a echocardiogram done. They told me nothing was wrong and that they wont do anything else until I have a heart attack or get the the point where im passing out more then five times a day. So it is now february 2021 and its just gotten worse to the point where if i sit up I nearly vomit and I usually pass out and so much more. Nobody will do anything so has anyone ever heard of this or have an idea on what I should do?

@kayleighroth,
We are not medical doctors and cannot give medical advice. My question is -

What are your parents doing about this? This seems extreme with anxiety, but again I am not a doctor or a therapist - I do have a daughter diagnosed with anxiety and do know that panic attacks can impact you physically.

If you have anxiety it is a medical condition - mental healthwise and you can help with this. Have you seen any specialists that deal with anxiety? If a good doctor feels this is anxiety then you should see a specialist dealing with that issue.

As a parent - I would go that route - find a highly recommended therapist that specializes in adolescent anxiety. Get a diagnosis from them. And then get the help you can.

Just guessing you have only been seeing medical doctors dealing with the symptoms of anxiety and that is why you are getting the results you are - you are not dealing with the root of the problem. Did any of these doctors suggest on who or which sort of professional you should see to deal with anxiety if this is what they say you have? It would be completely irresponsible for the doctors not to give you a recommendation on who to see as anxiety is a real issue and you need to learn to deal with it or else you will keep having these episodes.

Again - I am not a medical doctor but just giving you suggestions on who else you can see to help you deal with this issue.

One other thought - you said initially you were dealing with heart related issues - what are those? Are you being seen for these with a medical doctor?

@Linkat,
no none of the doctors have told me to go to anxiety specialists since they dont think its necessary which is stupid because of my severe symptoms, and the heart thing i was talking about was this thing called vasovagal syncope but its very common and isnt whats affecting me much

Yes - anxiety is real and can cause all sorts of issues - both physical and mental. My daughter has been seeing a therapist and it has helped her cope. I cannot believe that if a medical doctor truly believes you have anxiety - especially to the point that it is causing you physical symptoms they have not referred you. But unfortunately some people down play mental health rather than realize it is a true issue for many and there are solutions that can help you and make you feel much better. There is no reason for you to feel the way you do. Sometimes you just have to push for yourself when you know something is not right.

WebMD is a pretty reliable resource- here is a link to teens and anxiety - who to see, symptoms and ways to cope. Talk with your parents and see if they are willing to help you set up an appointment to talk with someone - there are many that are doing appointments virtually now due to covid. But there are ways to get help.
