@Real Music,
This is one of the most amazing musical performances I've ever seen, Theresa Andersson's Oh, Mary don't you weep. She accompanies herself in both vocals and violin, live multitracking and looping, the effect is mesmerizing and stunningly beautiful. She has more talent in her toes than most people have in their whole bodies. Watch her feet carefully.

@Banana Breath,
That was very cool - I wonder if Tash Sultana had ever heard of her....

Take 2 because Take 1 isn't rendering at all.

@hingehead,
Probably so; Tash's first known recording was several years after the release of Andersson's "Oh Mary." Of course both pay homage to Les Paul and Mary Ford who were doing multi-tracking self accompaniment back in the 1950's.

@Banana Breath,
But not live - tape tech wasn't quite that good - the Strawberry Fields cut and paste story is pretty cool too.

@hingehead,
Procol Harum did one with the Boston Phil , years ago . It was a gussied up version of "...Pale"

@farmerman,
Looks like nobody has yet mentioned "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," which introduced competitive fiddling to the masses:

@Banana Breath,
I thought about it - but decided it didn't meet the violins/strings or accompaniment criteria.

Can’t post links but there’s a wonderful bit of violin on the original version of Motörhead by Hawkwind.

@Region Philbis,
Thank you very much. It was a single yet your video shows the album Warrior on the Edge Of Time which is pretty good as well.

@Region Philbis,
They were a band I was really into when I was a teenager, and now my kids are into them. They’re still going, concerts are full of old farts and their kids.

@izzythepush,
I was curious about the use of Warrior's cover too.

But it make sense because Simon House really came into his own on that album. Love this from it:

I like to think David Bowie loved his playing on this album - and that's why he was recruited for Lodger and played violin on Yassassin, Red Sails, Boys Keep Swinging and Repetition.
