Martial Law and the U.S. Constitution

I hear people speaking (I think irresponsibly) about martial law.

I do not know of anything in the U.S. Constitution to enable such a declaration.

I believe that in each of the State Constitutions, there is a provision for the declaration of a state of emergency under which the government may take extreme actions to address the emergency. Perhaps this is similar to martial law.

All the recent comments about martial law involve Trump using the US Military to overturn the results of the election. I don't think anyone else is talking about martial law.

Is this what you are talking about?

I think anyone using the US military to overturn the result of a US election is unconstitutional and generally a bad thing.
