I just got a blue male parakeet, and hes acting weird. He looks like hes trying to regurgitate, but nothings happening. He stopped, but I'm still worried. I dont have pictures or videos because i was to stressed out at the time, but he was bobbing his head up and down while stretching his neck out.

@MoonyLupinBird,
I think hes having trouble breathing, but im underaged and cant drive, and my mom is saying its "No big deal." He's in his cage, so I think I'm gonna turn the fan on and see if that helps. Let me kniw if thats a bad idea.

@MoonyLupinBird,
Not a great idea. There’s no benefit to doing that. Birds aren’t happy with drafts, especially cool ones. Furthermore, if the bird’s got breathing problems, it could make it worse. If the inside temp is less than 72 deg or there’s a cold draft you may have health issues.

Tell your mom you are pretty sure there’s a breathing problem and show her. Ask her again to bring the bird back to the pet store.

@MoonyLupinBird,
You have brought a helpless animal into your home, you must call a vet....you wanted this bird and now you must take care of it and make sure it has the proper environment to stay healthy.

@Teufel,
Your reply was also repugnant. She is a kid. Calling a vet was the right call but the rest of your reply was garbage.

I know this thread is over with - But I just read it and can't stop laughing.
I know the kid was doing her best - even posting here, for advice.

But all I can envision - is a parrot, choking to death, in a cage - with a 5-speed upright pedestal-fan, on full power - Blowing it to the rear of its cage.

Not Funny, if real - But - Hilarious, as an imagined sketch.

Have a lovely day
