The National Review has turned on Trump.

Almost nothing that the Trump team has alleged has withstood the slightest scrutiny. In particular, it’s hard to find much that is remotely true in the president’s Twitter feed these days. It is full of already-debunked claims and crackpot conspiracy theories about Dominion voting systems. Over the weekend, he repeated the charge that 1.8 million mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania were mailed out, yet 2.6 million were ultimately tallied. In a rather elementary error, this compares the number of mail-ballots requested in the primary to the number of ballots counted in the general. A straight apples-to-apples comparison finds that 1.8 million mail-in ballots were requested in the primary and 1.5 million returned, while 3.1 million ballots were requested in the general and 2.6 million returned.

Flawed and dishonest assertions like this pollute the public discourse and mislead good people who make the mistake of believing things said by the president of the United States.

Quote:
Trump’s most reprehensible tactic has been to attempt, somewhat shamefacedly, to get local Republican officials to block the certification of votes and state legislatures to appoint Trump electors in clear violation of the public will. This has gone nowhere, thanks to the honesty and sense of duty of most of the Republicans involved, but it’s a profoundly undemocratic move that we hope no losing presidential candidate ever even thinks of again.

Getting defeated in a national election is a blow to the ego of even the most thick-skinned politicians and inevitably engenders personal feelings of bitterness and anger. What America has long expected is that losing candidates swallow those feelings and at least pretend to be gracious. If Trump’s not capable of it, he should at least stop waging war on the outcome.

Finally, sane conservatives are growing a spine.

@maxdancona,
Now William Barr has betrayed his country too.

Quote:
“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election," Barr told The Associated Press.

Last month, Barr issued a directive to U.S. attorneys across the country allowing them to pursue any “substantial allegations” of voting irregularities if they existed, before the results of the 2020 presidential race were certified.

I still support Mr. Trump.

We all need to resist and undermine the illegitimate Biden Administration any way we can.

@oralloy,
I expect you to put partisan politics over country until the bitter end. One by one the more responsible Republicans will put country first.

@maxdancona,
It's pretty silly to equate "caving in to leftist extremism" with "in the country's interest" or "responsibility".

In reality it is in the country's interest to resist and undermine the illegitimate Biden Administration.

Most Republicans are likely to join me in this.

@oralloy,
LOL was Biden born in the US or as Trump claim for Obama born outside the US also?

Love the theories the Trump supporter nuts have no shame in coming up with.

@BillRM,
I'd not be surprised to learn that Mr. Biden was born outside the solar system.

But he is illegitimate no matter where he was born.

@oralloy,
I am equating dealing with the results of a democratic election with being in the countries best interest. Judges that Trump appointed himself are telling us, in no uncertain terms, that there is no evidence of fraud.

I openly mocked the ridiculous liberals in pink pussy hats who resisted the "illegitimate Trump administration".
Clinton conceded the election when it was clear she lost. Obama invited Trump in to the White House and worked with his team. I kept an open mind, and at the time I was saying that in spite of our disappointment we should give Trump a chance.

I accept Trump to do the same. If you want to put on a pussy hat, and scream in the street, that is fine with me. But don't **** with our elections.

@maxdancona,
Does that directly translate to "We found zero fraud or irregularities." for you?

Mr. Trump has every right to challenge election results in court.

I don't know about wearing those silly hats, but the American people have every right to resist and undermine the illegitimate Biden Administration.

It translates into "There is no chance of the ridiculous conspiracy theory being alleged by Trump and his supporters is true".

1. I don't believe that the Moon Landing in 1969 was faked in a movie set as part of a vast political conspiracy.

2. I don't believe the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated by George Bush as part of a vast political conspiracy.

3. I don't believe that Donald Trump's loss was due to a vast political conspiracy.

These are all ridiculous, and now conservatives one after one are coming to admit it.

@maxdancona,
That's all well and good, but doesn't answer the question.

Does what Barr reported translate to "We found zero fraud or irregularities." for you?

Or, do you think that there HAS been some irregularities and fraud, but not in enough precincts or widespread enough to have effected the results?

@McGentrix,
You added the phrase "zero fraud or irregularities". This is a silly phrase. If 11 dead people vote in an election with 100 million voters, this isn't "zero fraud or irregularities". It doesn't invalidate the election.

We have elections every 4 years. They always involve this bipartisan process of counting the votes state by state. Almost always, the side that loses gives a gracious concession speech for the good of the country.

Trump is the only president who has had this temper tantrum after losing an election. We had Gore... but Gore had specific test that involved one state and a couple thousands votes. When Gore lost his challenge he graciously conceded.

What Trump is doing... embracing ridiculous conspiracy theories and alleging a mass national plot to overthrow his rightful rule that involves Republicans elected officials to pull it off (yes, Trump is accusing Republicans of plotting against him)... is something that no other loser has done.
