Curious - have you traveled by plane since covid started? What was your experience like? And what would make you travel by plane during these circumstances?

@Linkat,
Short answer, absolutely nothing would make me travel by plane now. Period.

@Linkat,
Yes. I have taken two international trips (to Mexico) since Covid. I will be making a third around Christmas.

The domestic legs of my trips have been pretty sparse. I have generally had a row to myself (which feels weird).

The airports are not empty, but not very crowded. A lot of businesses and restaurants are closed or have limited menus. I am gluten free... it has been more difficult for me to find food I can eat. The security lines have been much quicker than normal.

The international leg of my trips, the planes have been full. People and employees have been patient and understanding. Everyone wears a mask. Most people I have encountered are on their best behavior.

Coming back, I have been put on house arrest (which I respect and adhere to). I have found that I am able to get Covid Test results in 2 days... which generally means I can get a negative test after 5 days locked in my house. The first time I came back, I didn't no how to do this... and the wait was difficult.

@Linkat,
I did. More likely, I had to. I took all the necessary precautions and luckily, everything went well.. BUT I don't advise anyone to do it unless it is extremely crucial or a real emergency. Covid19's second wave has already hit most of the countries by now and there's no safe vaccine yet.. so we need to stick to the "stay home stay safe" rule.

@y1998,
Where are you from ? You mention countries so I am perhaps incorrectly assuming you are not from the US.

The other thing I did not think of that Max brought up was traveling internationally... I thought that travel was very restrictive ... but what do I know.

Trying to get others take because well too late I did fly. My daughter was interested in playing and going to college in a certain area. It was so cheap to fly in comparison to drive and significantly less time so I agreed.

My experience... I was nervous because they ate no longer blocking off the center seat .. so I reserved the aisle and window figuring the center seats would be the last to book. No worries the plane was pretty empty. The weird thing is we were the row behind emergency rows but they wouldn’t let anyone move up to that row or any above that had more leg room without paying more money and it was all empty .. it was not a long flight so not worth paying more ... I just thought it dumb.

It was the easiest travel ever... throughout. Got the hotel first cheap and it was a full service hotel with a free upgrade. Since we were going to a more infected rate state we had no issues visiting the schools everyone wore masks and so forth.

Took a covid test before we headed home to confirm with our state requirements. It was actually so smooth and so many precautions... brought spray antibacterial and hit any high touch areas on plane and hotel.

Bonus one school offered her a spot on the basketball team roster after meeting her just this one time and the other schools all showed interest in her.

@Linkat,
I found the same thing the worst was lack of businesses being open like the other poster my daughter is on a gluten free but also dairy free diet and nothing to eat. Not an issue flying out but coming home we left much earlier to return the car and due to larger airport so we needed to eat. Ended up she got a Caesar salad lesser at least to avoid these things

Ive been flying about twic a month up to the Pa gas fields and out to the SWpa "wet gas" fields.
I charter (looks like an Otter) and go from Lanc or Berks Co to several AP's up north or SW of Pittsburgh.

They take really good care of the wiping an disinfecting and the crews are tested regularly.

I rather prefer driving as Im not the greatest air passenger. At least its not to the Philippines or Argentina. I dont think Id fly commrcial any time soon until e have a vaccine.
