Can Biden end up with more than 400 electoral votes?

@maxdancona,
My final tally is 281-257 Trump. We'll see how it ends up...

Trump is leading Virginia still btw...

This is the close, nail-biting election we feared.

Trump declared victory and demanded they stop counting votes (although it is unclear he would win now even if we did that).

Biden is calling for patience, but says he feels confident he is winning.

It looks like Georgia may go blue, and Arizona is now being declared for Biden. If Georgia is official put in the Biden column, I think that Trump victory will be impossible.

@maxdancona,
Ga, NC, Mi and Pa are all in Trump's column at the moment.

Trump did not declare victory, that's a stupid thing to say.

@McGentrix,
By "in Trump's column" I mean it is a state that is definitely won by Trump.

None of these States are in Trump's column. Biden will likely win Michigan and Pennsylvania. And Georgia is trending Biden.

We know this because we know which votes haven't been counted yet.

@maxdancona,
We'll have to wait and see. Trump has a considerable lead in Pa. Smaller lead in both Ga and Mi, but a lead is a lead...

We are both hoping we are right and that's cool. I think we can stay on speaking terms either way.

I don't know if you saw Trump's speech last night. He called on them to stop counting votes and seemed to declare he had "already won".

That speech felt like a slap in the face to the half of the country who voted for Biden. If he wins, he still is supposed to be representing me, not allowing me off.

@maxdancona,
After four years of Trump, I'd have thought you guys knew the difference between what Trump says and what Trump does. Did anyone expect Trump to say it was close, Biden is a worthy competitor and he was going to wait until the Democrats cheat before doing something?

I think Engineer stated he was surprised to see the counts just stop last night. I was as well. That doesn't bother you at all that in such closely contested states they would just stop counting?

@Region Philbis,
That would make him just like every other politician and people did not vote for Trump to be like any other politician.

@McGentrix,

there's a reason other politicians don't employ that careless method of communincation -- it's irresponsible and dangerous.

i repeat -- what the POTUS says matters...

@McGentrix,
What I would want and expect from any president of the United States.

1. A calling for peace from all sides, and for compassion for the losing side. Abraham Lincoln did this after a bloody shooting war. Trump says he wants to be Lincoln... let him be Lincoln.

2. An acknowledgement that he is president of all Americans and that he serves people who don't agree with him.

3. Putting country over party and acknowledging that the the values of our constitutional form of democracy is more important than his victory. This was done by Hillary in 2016 and McCain in 2012 and Gore, and Bush and every other person losing a contest since Jefferson.

I get it. Trump is a different breed of politician. I get it, a lot of Americans like his brash, divisive, win at all costs attitude.

I don't like it at all. It is not good for the country.

@maxdancona,
1. He isn't Lincoln and I doubt Lincoln would even run for President in today's political theater.

2. Trump doesn't denigrate the voters that do not vote for him. He insults the elitists that do nothing but say what a terrible person he is and the biased media. He's never suggested that he isn't the President of all Americans. He's never referred to the other side as "deplorables".

3. How about we wait and see how the Dems peacefully accept Trump's re-election before attempting to get on a high horse about Trump's concession. Right now, Trump is ahead.

You want to know what is not good for the country? Biden's Alzheimer's and a Harris presidency.

@McGentrix,
This argument is silly. There are no facts (other than that Trump is allowed to say whatever he wants). It is my impression versus your impression.

Here is my impression. I am a solid Democrat, but I am happy to praise a Republican when they do something of which I approve... and I make a conscious effort to see things from more than one point of view.

I feel that Trump is intentionally excluding me from his idea of what it means to be American. I have never felt any attempt from Trump to reach out to me as an American.

I have felt that from every other Republican president since I was politically conscious (which is every one after Nixon).

If president Trump gives an Obama like acceptance speech after winning according to the democratic institutions, where he acknowledges both sides and promises to work for all the country... I will publicly commend that.

If Trump gives a Gore like acceptance speech... where he doesn't feel good about the process, but accepts defeat based on the democratic institutions (in this case the Supreme Court)... then I will publicly commend that.

Gore acknowledged his dissatisfaction with the process... and yet he called on the country to come together for the good of the nation behind the winner.

If Trump does that... I will ******* praise him.

I just realized that a key point I made was the exact opposite of what I intended to say.

You voted for him to hear his brain-farts and not act like a responsible adult?
