I know, in general present tense verbs used with a singular subject end with "s". But I want to say, "We see his role shift from that of a prophet to that of a priest." Here, it does not sound right to say, "shifts." Any comments?
@JimRS,
The verb "shift" is in the
infinitive form (without the normal "to" modifier).
The infinitive form is used in object phrases after "see" or "hear".
