RIP Gale Sayers. He suffered from severe dementia for many years...almost certainly as a result of the many blows he took as an outstanding running back in the NFL.
Huge cost to the people who provide the entertainment we derive from this contact sport.
Very sad, may he Rest In Peace.
Sadness.
According to news reports,he had been dealing with dementia the last few years.
Still an inspiration all this time later, when recalling the friendship he had with Brian Piccolo, which was shown in the film Brian's Song.
May he rest peacefully.
