doggie door
With area " alarms " for the cats.
You can put a vibrating collar on them that when they get too close to the alarm ( about 5 feet or so ) it vibrates on their neck and scares them away from it.
oh wait..
you better not talk to me about cats.
I will have you buying one tomorrow. ;-)
This cat looks an awful lot like our female cat, Kira. Although she is about 8 1/2 pounds.

Depending on how much work you want to do, you could make a nice outdoor totally enclosed pen of some kind where the cat(s) could go in the warm, dry weather.
i've been
staring
at "it" for a few seconds; its starting to look like a tiny cat face...
Hmmm, methinks you're either taking too many meds, or missed them altogether?
Shewolf, you are a witch and do not play fair--enticing me with those adorable pictures!
All suggestions are good and I have actually considered all of them. I like the idea of an outside enclosed play area for cats. It protects the birds and gives the cats room for excersise and basking in the sun. A friend of mine has a cat door that goes directly to an enclosed outdoor play area.
Dys will agree to anything, I know he likes cats, but he hasn't shown real enthusiasm. Pondering...
Witchy wolf woman, work your mojo on him.
