Here's Our Boy Dash enjoying one of his Christmas toys...

And these are two visitors from somewhere in the neighborhood that we gladly indulge with a dish of food and water when they come around...

Jeez, sorry I edited those down so small in photobucket. Here's a rare instance of all of our 4 cats existing in harmony...

@snood,
heh

A couple of night ago I woke up in the middle of the night to find all 3 kids asleep in bed with me and wally.

Otis T. Jackson is black & white. I was reading in the corner of the room the other week, and from that angle, the way Otis was sleeping on the floor, his paws curled in a certain way, he looked just like a miniature killer whale.

Of course at times like that, if you got up to get the camera, he'd leave the room.

Our beloved male cat, Kory:
17 October 1998 - 7 August 2009

My wife and I recently had to make the very difficult decision to euthanize him due to increasing health problems.

He will be missed very much.

@Izzie,
Thank you, Rock and Izzie, for posting.

Kory was a real special boy. Always full of life. Vivienne and I are grateful that he made it to 10 years, 10 months. The prognosis years ago, when he was small, painted a very bleak picture for him, perhaps not seeing his 5th birthday, but, somehow, he made it through.

Without going into details, it was time to let him go, as we didn't want to see him suffer with his latest bout of problems.

We are really going to miss him, and even as I write this, I need to brush away the tears once again.

We were worried about our other cat, Kira, for a while, because she was hardly eating and not interacting with us. Fortunately, we are grateful that this has now turned around, and all seems to be well. We are guessing that she was missing her brother, like we were.

@Reyn,
Aw, I'm so sorry to hear this, Reyn. A terrible decision to have to make, I know. He was a beauty, wasn't he? Smile :

Yes, indeed. We're grateful he made it to the age that he did, but it's hard when you realize it's time to let go, when a pet is going through hardship.

As all cat owners know, cats are very good at masking their symptoms, and Kory was no exception. He didn't appear to be that ill, but had a massive infection (worst ever), which caused other problems eventually.

Vivienne and I will will be sitting down and a memory will surface. This morning, it was the pet name "Bleach Boy" that came up. For some reason, Kory loved the smell of bleach, which most cats would detest. For him, it was like catnip. Of course, tears came to our eyes.

Thank you for posting your condolences. I've never had to make a decision like that before, and it was my wife who concluded it was best, first. She was very resolute in that, and I came to the realization that she was right. The vet, while trying to be helpful, was, I believe, giving us false hope. Not uncommon, I guess.

Thanks again, Izzie and Rock. Other pet owners can appreciate the loss of a beloved pet. One can become so bonded with them.

Those are lovely photos of your cats. Thanks for showing me what your pets look like. They look very affectionate!

With Kory, every time Vivienne would lie down for a nap, there he was at her side.

There was never any mistaking that Kory was in the room. He was a real attention-hound.

I always found him to be very obedient. If he was doing something he shouldn't and you told him to stop, he did - at least for the next 5 minutes, like chasing his sister, Kira.

But, life goes on, and we'll have to find a way to live with the hole that our guy left.

Thanks again to everyone who posted. It's nice to hear from folks.

Kira today, after a bath. Was hoping to get some shots of her wet (so you can see how skinny she is), but camera batteries were acting up

just read this about Kory.

I'm so sorry Reyn, from one cat lover to another.

Jezzer died at the end of July. All sorts of little things (like your bleach boy) remind us of her all the time.

Kory was a good boy.

@chai2,
Hi Chai, and thanks for dropping in.

It's hard, isn't it, after these little guys helping to fill your day for so long? Some days are harder than others. As you say, some memories come floating to the top and the tears come to the eyes, and I get choked up.

He was a handsome boy, and full of life and mischief. Somehow, despite his bad ticker, liver, and urinary tract infections, he soldiered on, never complaining. We're so glad he nearly made 11. Not bad for a fella who was not supposed to have much time.

During these last vet visits, I can remember we were so happy that he had lost about 2 pounds (down from about 15.07 to 13.10). It was a step in the right direction.

Oh dear, I have to sign off here, as I'm getting choked up again.

I hope fond memories of Jezzer make things better now. We are hoping for the same with Kory.
