This appears on the UK Yahoo news pages today ... It is not a million miles from the basic concept of the Aktion T4 programme of the NSDAP 3rd Reich. How long before some main stream US politico infers that there are 'Useless eaters' in the USA ... Not long one suspects as COVID takes it's fiscal toll. Maybe they have already.
That these rules ever existed at all and that people have had to take legal action to redress the situation is both disgusting and so deeply wrong ... Yet still it appears most states have these appalling guidelines in place. So far only 5 states have taken action to address this situation, which of course leaves 45 others who haven't.
The USA is an incredibly abhorrent and repugnant country.
If there truly is a widespread medical emergency and hospitals are effectively full and there are insufficient supplies to provide everyone with the same level of care, what are they supposed to do? If the idea is to preserve the lives of as many people as possible should resources be used to treat people with a 25% chance of survival at the expense of someone with a 75% chance? Should patients be assigned lottery numbers to see who receives treatment as a "fairer" way to assign priority when there simply aren't enough beds, caregivers, and medical equipment to deal with the numbers of sick people? Personally, I haven't an answer to this question.
