Okay. Let's take this slowly.

When you're talking to Sexy Young Thing online, you write the following: (cut & paste if necessary)

M: I've missed seeing you. Any chance we could meet for coffee (or a beer, whatever's his style)?

SYT will probably answer: When?

Do you think you could take to from there, or do I have to come up to New Brunswick, put you in my car, and drive you to his place? <LOL>

LOL! As tempting as that is, I think I'm going to play it by ear for a while. I'm still recovering from the let down of being blown off by so many people on the day of my BBQ and I'm not ready to take on anymore disappointments right now.

I'm feeling a bit sensative these days and I really need to build my confidence back up before I do anything on the bold side.

Oh, Montana.

We gave a Christmas party a few years ago and invited 35 neighbors, and only one showed up. That's right, one. I had it catered and everything. And the one guy who did show up was the weird one of the bunch, naturally. He stayed for 30 minutes then left. Talk about embarrassed! (All of us.)

Then there were the two Fourth of July parties. I made up custom invitations and everything. Invited everyone on our street (about 50). The first year, about five showed up. So the second year, I took the invitations around myself. About 20 said they'd be there. Two showed up.

That's it for the neighbors. No more invites for this bunch!

I felt like you do each time it happened, but you know what? It was THEIR loss, not mine. They missed a great time. Oh yes, they did!

I am a great hostess, and I know it. I'd bet my last dime you're the same. Too bad they weren't great guests. You'll know better than to waste your energy inviting them again.

Don't let it get you down, okay? Here, pass me some of that leftover barbecue. I've got plenty of plates and napkins!

I was starting to think it was me for a while there, but after reading your stories and those of others, I realize that it's not me after all. If people could blow off a totally awesome person such as yourself, it surely has to be them who have a problem.
If it was me you had invited, I would have been there with bells on, Eva and if I were the only one to show up, we still would have had a blast.

Not to brag, but you're right in saying that I'm a great hostess and it was their loss. I know you're a great hostess as well and you didn't deserve that either.

I'm in public relations. I'm known locally for escorting media VIPs around town & entertaining them. You can damn well bet any party I put on myself will be worth attending! Like I said...good hostess, bad guests. Same thing in your case.

My point was...it happens to all of us. Don't let it get you down. Just enjoy the leftovers and don't invite the slobs next time.

Hey there Stray Cat. So sorry it took so long for me to respond. I've been busy with house and yard work and my head has been in the clouds lately. I did enjoy my time off, but I still haven't been to the beach (across the street) yet, lol.
Things have been slow at work lately, which doesn't help me at all, financially, but things will be picking up next week. I guess it's been a slow year for lobster.
I also have another cold and sexy green eyes is still driving me nuts.
Other than that, I'm doing ok :-)

How are you doing these sunny days? Any beach going for you?
