Why CO2 isn't falling more

Global lockdowns have drastically reduced air pollution in some areas, but overall levels of CO2 are not falling as much as you might think.

Quote:
“The crisis shows how challenging decarbonizing the economy purely through behavioral adjustment would be,” Houser said, noting that individual decisions about not driving or flying deliver only limited emissions reductions.

“What we need are technological solutions that allow our economy to operate at 100% with 5%-8% annual reductions going forward,” he said.
Transportation is a big piece of the emissions puzzle. But it’s only one piece

What does it mean for "economy to operate at 100%?" People and businesses have to do less to use less energy, unless they are going to switch over to all manual labor.

We need to differentiate between "economy at 100%" and the economy being "100% sufficient" while shrinking. The economy can be sufficient while shrinking and reducing resource use.

We obviously don't need all things we were doing before lockdown or else people wouldn't be surviving without them during lockdown.

@livinglava,
CO2 is timelocked (30-40YR) backdraft.
1980 CO2 is here and Now - Todays' input won't kick-in till 2060.

Make Sense?
It's a fact (+or-3yrs)
Have a Lovely Day
