Pledge revive it question

I've heard that if you use Pledge Revive it to soak ball joints for plastic apertures, this can tighten the opening. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I would rather not risk damage if this is on the iffy side.

Thanks!

@Webb,
Just checking to see if anybody had replied. The main page of this site says "ask an expert".

Are there any experts around?

Thanks!

@Webb,
There.might be experts, just not on this particular item.

Keep hoping though, a lot of folks pass through here.

Whats the worst that can happen? Pledge is designed for plastic.

@bobsal u1553115,
It's a valuable antique. I don't want to damage it. Why is my question voted down to zero?

@Webb,
Don't ask me, my answering you automatically made me a thumbs up.

Pledge is designed to work with plastic. You say this is a ball joint, I'm guessing its nylon. If the ball and joint aren't cracked I can't imagine any problems. I might assume this is a ball for moving this on the floor?

If this is gumed by dirt even WD-49 won't hurt plastic. By antique are you claiming this is 100 or more years old. Maybe a picture of the joint would be able to shed some light.

If this is a valuable antique maybe you shouldn't be "tinkering". But if this is a dolly for moving the thing around the floor, its no antique, valuable or not. Pledge will not hurt it, but may gum it as will most oils, WD-40 will clean it.

I can't explain the thumbs down, but I sure wouldn't take it to heart.

@Webb,
People vote questions down to get them to collapse. No reflection on you or your topic

@jespah,
Thanks Jespah. I use it myself for that purpose but didn't think of it in this instance.

@jespah,
When are they going to start putting jelly donuts back on the table, the ones with the vanilla frosting and jimmies?

@bobsal u1553115,
Had to socially distance from that baker. He was using a jock strap for a mask. It was ... unsettling.
