How are you handling things that you can not get currently?

A haircut?

Dog grooming?

Nails?

Anything else? And what are your solutions?

@Linkat,
I have a shih tzu and anyone who knows this breed - he does not shed so he needs regular grooming or he will look like this:

https://www.miracleshihtzu.com/images/matted-hair.jpg

Not it is not him and it is not quite this bad - I have bathed him but he was in need of a grooming about the time they stopped allowing pet groomers. I do have some small scissors used for trimming dogs fur - but it is really just used to trim around his eyes and face for in between grooming sessions -

Poor buddy I don't want him looking like this!

@Linkat,
I have a couple clippers that I use for maintaining my beard. I was just thinking about whether I could cut my own hair. I don't have very much of it (on the top of my head that is), it can be that difficult.

my husband ordered clippers for his hair - I didn't tell him the first time he did it did not look that great - it grew in well.

He is going to do another trim today.

For me I am just keeping it in a ponytail.

Haircuts...Twice weekly (sometimes more if I am bored and ambitious). Shave head completely (been doing this for about 5 years). Regular razor, not electric, done dry.
Beard, same method as before...scissor trim, then regular razor to shape and even out. Mustache, regular scissors trim, then razor to even it off.

Nails are when I get to them. I have 2 pairs of nail scissors.

No animals, so no grooming worries ....unless one of the occasional mice stop by and make a request. So far they seem more about food than appearance.

Anything else which pops up gets handled as it occurs. I figure solutions as needed and using whatever is available. (Keep in mind, when my hair went past the shoulders, I at times used twisted seals to tie it back).

@Sturgis,
I suggested to my kids that dad could grow his hair out and put it in a manbun

They looked at me oddly - guess dad doesn't appear to be a manbun sort of guy.

@Linkat,
Yeah, when my hair was long, never had a man bun. Let it flow free or tie it back as a ponytail.

...do you think your husband would be interested in creating a new trend for guys? Perhaps braid his hair and make them into pigtails.

(you might need to wait until he is asleep for that)

most definitely - I'd never get away with that - since he had been in the marines - he has kept it short.

@cherrie,
Flowebee is a hair clipper you connect to your vacuum cleaner.

I think that just means I am older than you are Wink The flowbee ads had TV advertisements for a while. They never caught on, but most people my age know what they are.

@maxdancona,
It could also be that they're an American thing and never made it to Australia.

@cherrie,
Just did a search on Flowbee.

It still exists but the price is nuts. +$98.00 for the thing and +$139.00 if you buy their special vacuum (shipping and handling is extra). You save by buying the 2 parts. The mini-vac costs +$54.00 on a solo sale.

No money back guarantee in 30 days for now due to Covid-19.

doesn't matter for now as they are somehow sold out. It was never something I even considered.

And before anybody looks... Amazon has sold out too.

@Sturgis,
Looks like a lot of people are doing their own hairdressing then.
Lucky I wasn't planning on buying one. Smile

@Linkat,
Bought some good quality electric trimmer for grooming puppy and myself.

Cut my own hair with the help f mirrors and my partner cutting the back.

In the next few days I’ll shampoo the dog first and then trim her with the new trimmer and some long scissors with rounded ends. I’ll secure the dog with a vice grip, I think.

Not that many years ago I let my hair grow long. When my wife asked, I said I was growing a ponytail. About an hour later, as I sat reading, she came behind me with scissors and a comb and started cutting. These days I just run the clippers over my hair until it is uniformly very short and then she shaves the neck.
