As is appropriate. His comments were way, way out of line. I think he is an academy grad, so he should have known better. He wasn't out of line for relieving the CO, that was his call and it pretty much had to happen, but then you keep your personal comments to yourself.

Oh it was completely warranted. He was in no way the most qualified for the job. Only seven years, a helo pilot and a Lt. Pitiful choice.

I don't know the guy, but that is awfully harsh. The Sec Nav is a civilian by definition. He is not required to have any Navy experience although traditionally he has had some and has spent his civilian time working on military matters. I'm not going to bother looking up Modly's history, but on the surface he is no less qualified than others that have gone before him. Even firing the CO of the Roosevelt was not a big deal to me, I don't think he had many options there much like President Obama had to fire General McChrystal. It's his comments to the Roosevelt crew that showed complete lack of judgment. In his words, you would have to be stupid or naive to think that wasn't going to get out.

He has no administration experience, very little government experience. All Secretaries have have had some experience with the Navy either in government or on committees in Congress or in uniform of longer years and higher rank.

Harsh???? that is exactly what his record was.

His replacement is an Admiral who's been the Assist Sec of the Army. Night and day difference.

We need more men such as Teddy Roosevelt in such positions.
