Exactly, there were but "the Great Depression" is the one that has become a symbol of misery used to incite economic intervention.
We should stop focusing on fearing the Great Depression and start envisioning how to live sustainably; and then avoid allowing the sustainability visions to just turn into more stimulus, investments, and thus invigoration of the unsustainable aspects of the status quo.
