Had to laugh when I saw this--and it's a nice prompt for us all to think of the little things we can do.

My sister is a polar opposite fo me politically, so we just decided never to talk about it. She thinks this is a great opportunity for people who are well-off to share their largess. Of course, I think the government owes the people who keep it going with many more people-centric policies, but I just agreed with her that it's great to donate canned goods at church and shelters. The church in our little hometown does distribute faithfully to people in need...

My little niece is an RN, pregnant, and I'm a little worried about her. She's like her mom and I--a bit of a workaholic--knows when to stop or slow down, but thinks "I'll just do this, and then I'll slow down", but 'this' never ends... and considering her job and condition, her mom and I have extra sensitive antenna up in her direction.

But, nobody in the family is in panic mode, and I think this is a serious 'positive thing people can do'. Don't hoard, don't fear monger, don't gather in large groups. Follow the safety precautions/procedures.

I'm able to project this to my 80 kids online, inform them about good news, remind them of precautions, find places where they can eat... So, I feel like this is a useful expenditure of my time.

Our school is swinging into action fabulously. The media specialist has informed us of libraries and businesses that are relaxing their payment requirements, so that students can enjoy these educational/entertainment sites for free. We pass this on to the kids.

I do feel as a teacher I am a bit on the front lines, and from this vantage point, it is heartening to see so many people and places taking cuts to help the most needy among us.

@Linkat,
This is a really thoughtful trend. It's happening locally here as well.

You just know some orangutan will go in with them. I have such low tolerance for that.

@Sturgis,
Luckily there's no shortage of vegemite yet. That would be a disaster.

@cherrie,
Probably no shortage of haggis, either. I would classify both as acquired tastes.

@roger,
Haggis is one thing I don't ever plan to acquire a taste for.

@Linkat,
The best way to stop COVID-19 is to stay home. The Chinese proved it with action.
And we should wear a mask when we have to go out.

Yes to the first point.

No to the second point. The CDC is saying that you should not be using masks... and you should certainly not be buying masks. The masks are for health workers.

You should listen to the CDC.

this is supposed to be subject around positive things that you or others are doing -- there are plenty of other threads where this would fit.

Not sure how much this counts but my company is pumping out a ton of content about the business bailouts. My writer and I are creating all of it.

We don't sleep much.
