Possible HPV infection: throat and/or anal cancer?

Hi, just recently in the last couple of weeks I had developed a severe sore throat as well as an intense earache, both of my left side. I went to a local urgent care, which told me that I had pharyngitis, gave me 500mg of amoxicillin and sent me on my way. The medication has done no good as symptoms have only worsened. Along with this, I've had an extreme itching in my genital area as well as my rectum for a very long time; a year or more. I never noticed any genital warts of any kind and I had blood tests completed and nothing was ever brought to my attention. I have had only one serious relationship for the past several years now but we had both remained abstinent until just a few months ago. Not long after, she had her pap smear completed and the results came back that she was hpv positive. She had told me that her last one was feburary of last year and she had come up completely clean, which would make me a carrier. I know that HPV cant be traced in men unless cancerous lesions are found orally or possible cancer is detected elsewhere, which right now is my biggest fear. I'm set up to see a regular doctor but I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I'm terrified to think that I may have cancer in both the rectum and orally. Ove always tried to maintain safe sex when I was active and ive never had an std. Im.not sure what to do at this point since I can't even be tested for hpv. If anyone has any experience with this, please give advice or info. Your time and patience is greatly appreciated. Thank you

@Kerouac1983,
Go to your doctor. Go directly to your doctor (not urgent care). Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

This is above our pay grade, and it's above the urgent care's pay grade as well. Please see your primary care physician and quit gambling with your health and that of the ones you love.

@jespah,
jespah - he did say he is set up to see his regular doctor --- sounds like he just wants to hear from someone that might have experienced something like this..

but how soon are you to see your doctor? If it is not very very soon - and if you did not provide the details you are saying here - please do so and insist you want to be seen right away - you could also ask if you should set something else up with a different specialist.

@Linkat,
You're right; I read it too fast.

Definitely be assertive with the PCP.

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update on what's going on. I dont have a regular doctor in the state since I've barely even been here a few weeks but I had set an appointment with a family doctor, whom I saw yesterday. I told her the very same that I have told you here on the site. She checked both ears, throat, and even genitals and rectum. She found nothing in either the genital or rectal area that felt like or even resembled warts or rashes, and she said that I definitely need to finish out the amoxicillin and the reason for the earache was the fact that when my throat became swollen and sore, and the lymph node became swollen as well, it closed the eustachian tube of the ear, keeping it from draining and backing up fluids in the ear. She gave me a strong medicated ointment for the itching and mucinex as well. I asked her if it was remotely possible that there could be any cancer lingering and she said by looking down my throat and fi doing nothing remotely looking like a lesion or infected and with normal weight and no drastic changes that I had no risk of cancer to worry about.
