The robbery took place at 9.00 pm last night.

Is there redundancy in the bold part? Is it understood that pm indicates clearly that the robbery took place at night?

Hence, is it correct to tweak the above sentence as follows?
The robbery took place at 9.00 last night.

Thanks.

@tanguatlay,
No, there is no redundancy. The pm is a standard part of US time (we generally use 12 hours). The last night is really specifying the day (not the time).

The first version is completely correct. The second suggestion is also correct... but the first form seems more formal to this US native speaker. I prefer "9:00 pm last night".

@tanguatlay,
If you want to leave out "pm," simply write "the robbery took place at 9 last night," and omit the unnecessary punctuation and zeros.
