Why
are Russian прах prax (dust), порох pórox (gunpowder), порошок porošók (powder), перхоть pérxotʹ (dandruff), персть perstʹ (dust) cognate to Proto-Indo-European *pers-
but
Russian поперхнуться poperxnútʹsja (to choke) onomatopoeic?
and
What about Russian першить peršitʹ (to have a scratchy throat)?
