On behalf of the taekwondo community in Singapore, the Singapore Taekwondo Federation president, management committee and staff extend our/their deepest and heartfelt condolences to Mr Chin’s bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. And we wish them strength in their trying time as their lives will be different without him.
Should it be "our" or "their"? And what is the reason?
Thanks.
@tanguatlay,
"Our" is fine. The statement is being made by an individual representing the S.K.F. and speaking for the staff. He uses "our" in the second sentence and "we" in the third sentence. Notice how when he mentions the bereaved family in the third sentence he changes to "them" and "their".
Many thanks, hightor.
Your explanation is very clear, analytical and easy to follow.
@tanguatlay,

Do you have any niggling doubt about this sentence?
