How to prepare al-dente pasta

Hey guys ,
I have spent couple of hours for the past months trying to prepare best al-dente pasta professionally, but unfortunately my pot keeps getting burnt .
Guys this is really frustrating for me. can anyone help me?

I believe there's supposed to be water in the pot.

Water? SO filling my pot with highly explosive jet fuel... was wrong?

Yes !
there's always water in the pot, but the pasta still either get watery/sticky and/ or burnt at the end of the day. At first, i thought it was the brand of product that i was using,but it isn't.
