My daughter bought me a new phone. It worked fine for a couple of weeks. Then it began displaying the message that told me it was too cold and that if the temperature keeps falling the phone will shut down. This on 85 degree days. It began shutting down and in fact just shut down a few moments ago. It's an alcatel. Sometimes it shuts down without that message. It can't be returned, so I will just get a different brand.

@edgarblythe,
Sometimes you have to make sure it is powered down, and then power it up. I always keep my phone charged, but I often forget to power down or to update it...it's those times the damn device abandons me.

@glitterbag,
This one lets me down daily, whether just charged or what.

@edgarblythe,
Maybe it's a Christian phone and it's detecting the temperature of your heart.

Try opening your heart to Jesus and see if that works.

If not, it could be a Muslim phone, or a Buddhist phone or a Sikh phone.

Try opening your heart to Mohammed or Buddha or Guru Nanak.

And it doesn't end there, there's a **** ton of other religions to consider.

Hope this was helpful.

Although if you live in Texas and it's too cold you probably have Satan's phone, look out for texts from Trump.

@edgarblythe,
You know the saying, "You get what you pay for."

Phones are no different. Not sure which Alcatel flip phone you have but a brief search seems to indicate they're under $50 if you buy an unlocked version. Probably much less if she got a used one on Ebay.

Never having heard of Alcatel, I looked into them. The answer was clear.

Alcatel is a French concern. Now, while true they are owned by Finnish company Nokia, they also are connected to the Chinese corporation, TCL. Too many folks applying their own individual standards and ideas.

(but, yeah, mainly I'll just attribute it to the French part)

@McGentrix,
I can't use a flat screen phone. Too clumsy, fingers too fat, constantly touch it wrong and have to find my way out of unwanted screens. I just need one for the occasional call, not playing with.
