I recently got a new phone and had to login to facebook on it. I didn't remember my password because I always stayed logged in. From here I proceeded to screw things up pretty badly. I have had my first account for many years and a couple years ago I did a similar thing, tried to login on my laptop and didn't remember my password so by resetting it, I created a new page instead of going to my original page. I cannot find my original page and would truly appreciate anyone's expertise on this. Thank you in advance.

@lorit,
Let's use proper terms (makes things a lot less confusing). You are talking about personal accounts, rather than a page you manage where, for example, people who like the Beatles gather, yes?

Easiest way to find your old account (I am assuming it had tight privacy settings) is to go through the friends list of a friend, then add yourself. If you still can't find the old account, try having the friend send a notification to your old account, suggesting it befriend your new account.

Because you (presumably) still have control over the email address you used to create the first account, you should get a notification. Click on that, try to login, and tell it you forgot your password.

@jespah,
Thanks for your help Jespah. Yes they are both personal accounts with the same email. The 2nd one was created by accident when I logged in at least a year ago onto a computer I had never used to login before. It wasn’t an issue as I stayed logged into my first account on my old phone and iPad. It wasn’t until earlier this week when I switched to a new phone that there was an issue...the old account is nowhere to be found, only the newer one shows up when I log in which is basically starting over. I appreciate your suggestion of asking a friend’s friend to “friend” me however won’t I get the notification to this newer account?

I really appreciate your help as no one else has responded and I am ready to just delete my account altogether.

@lorit,
How weird. Sounds like some strange FB hiccup. It shouldn't create 2 accounts under 1 email (email address, so far as I can tell, is supposed to be unique).

Hmm if you get the notification to friend yourself on the same account, that seems like a step into the Twilight Zone.

I have never heard of this issue before. Very odd.

@jespah,
as you can see, my email is [moderator: removed email address #1]. Now that I think about it, when I first created a facebook account, it may have been [moderator: removed email address #2] or even [moderator: removed email address #3]

Do you think that is worth a try?

@lorit,
It's worth a shot. And I'll scrub out your email addresses here so you don't get spammed.
