My Suicidal Thoughts

Hi everyone! This is actually my first post here Smile and this is also my first post where I am completely unidentifiable and anonymous and so far, just posting this is already helping me. You see, I am an engineering student, on my 2nd year this year, and it hasn't been easy, it never was but today is really, really hard. Today was the first time that suicidal thoughts crept into my mind. I just feel really tired. Tired of all the expectations, tired of all my assumptions, tired of everything.

If you were me, what would you do? I just want the heavy feeling to go away.

Yes, today is hard. And yes, you are tired. But that doesn't mean every day will be like this. Take time for you. A simple pleasure, an ice cream cone, a bubble bath, a playlist of your favorite music. Take three deep breaths. You can do this.

Everything can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you start your second year. It won't always be like this, and you won't always feel like way. There are people who love you, and they would be devastated if anything were to happen to you.

There should be a pastoral team at your college, talk to someone there because it sounds like you need counselling.

thank you so much for reaching out. that is the best thing you can do.

Where do you live? If you are in the US I can give you a suicide prevention hotline number. There is someone there 24/7 to talk with you as you said just talking to someone helps. If not, you could try a quick search to see if there is some sort of resource where you live.

If I were you, I would look for someone to talk to at your university - most have counselors or resources to discuss this stress.

This sort of stress is normal especially for someone first starting out in their studies - they should have individual experienced in dealing and helping students manage this stress.

I know it's a rough program. My Dad (retired) and my older nephew are engineers. I have no doubt that you are as smart as they are.

I hope you will take advantage of counseling programs at your school and let your hair down with a counselor.

And I hope you'll stick around here.

I've to have had these thoughts in the past. I would try taking a breather, you know, relaxing. Do something you enjoy for a while. If these thoughts continue, I suggest talking to your doctor and a person close to you.
No one should have to go through thoughts like that alone, people are here for you. Smile
