If the GOP was no longer a party and the Democrats had to split into competing parties, what would define them as separate and different from each other?

I think there would be one party with more of a social justice orientation, while the other party would be more of a economy-and-social-security party without as much concern about social justice issues.

I think both parties would see strong government and economic structuring as the means of achieving a good society, but the social justice party would focus more on anti-discrimination and compensation for past injustice, whereas the other party would just focus on providing universal social-economic access and benefits.
