This is the first case in Canada where someone has been convicted of the new sex tourism law. It's a law whereby citizens can be charged with sex crimes that they commit in other countries.
Prison sentence for sex crimes

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - Vancouver's Donald Bakker has been handed 10 years in prison, in connection with the new sex tourism law.
He couldn't look at the gallery as he was sentenced and at time had to wipe away tears.
He has now been sentenced for crimes involving young prostitutes in Cambodia, and sex attacks on Vancouver prostitutes.
His punishment is ten years in prison. But because he's been in custody for the past 18 months he'll serve a total of seven years in prison.
Oh, for a minute there I thought he went to Canada looking for sex, now that would not be a felony, that would be a futility.

Duck and cover, Joe. <LOL>
