It seems as if the era of cold-calling has passed... or am I just doing it wrong?
I've called plenty of businesses over the past week and I'm either just ringing through, or people aren't interested at all.
I understand it's a numbers game.. but is it still viable? Is anyone else having success with cold calls?
It was never terribly effective to begin with.
Odds are something like less than 5% success, probably more like less than 1% these days. It's far too easy to ignore calls from numbers you don't recognize.
You'll do better if you try to focus your shots. So, basically, do some research. If you find whatever you're selling appeals more to women than men, then it should be obvious -- call more women. You get the idea.
