Edgar - The loss of Himself was very difficult. It was one of the few times I've cried over the loss of someone I had never met. I considered him a dear friend.
That is what I found so wonderful about Abuzz (and now here)... We actually have a community where everyone can be honest with each other and let their true selves be known AND we still like each other! That doesn't happen in most families, let alone a cyber community.

Abuzz was my first forum as well and It was very sad to see it go down hill after the removal of the mods.

By now, of course, you've all heard the bad news. Abuzz will cease as of Sept. 9. Don't know about y'all but I will miss it.

My bad. I was just working from my dysfunctional memory, not checking the data. It's a sad day.
I started my final thread there to wish folks good-bye, see you elsewhere, etc., this morning. Was right away challenged as being a thousand different identities. All in all, I already miss it. I have saved some threads to disk, but not nearly enough. I have one of himself's that I want to pare down and put on a2k soon.
Some quick, (not-so) random thoughts:
I've been back there browsing - talk about inmates running the asylum...
For some reason, what jumps into mind is a zombie movie where they've taken over and are everywhere! There are always those who build and those who must tear down...
In a way, it's like the losers are the winners, but when it's all over, they'll still be losers.
Disappointing and infuriating much of the time, but so it goes.
Sigh.
I agree, bermbits, but -- just like edgar -- I already miss it, too.
