Anger, fear, hatred, envy, vengeance, greed, etc. all play into politics too much. Governance should be about creating a better future, not defending against fears, seeking vengeance against enemies and/or those we envy, the pursuit of greed, etc.
Governmental politics involve the creation of policies to best deal with human life in which all these emotions and their social consequences play out, but that doesn't mean politics should become a theater for those emotions and the power struggles rooted in them, which government is supposed to help regulate.
Once emotion enters politics and government for whatever reason(s), however, it is difficult to rise above it. If some party or individuals achieve rules or policies that achieve emotion-driven goals, it usually provokes emotional responses in others, and the cycle continues and often exacerbates.
The question is how to move from a state of burning emotions in politics to one where people can rise above emotion to apply reason and wisdom to the task of having constructive discussions that lead to consensus policies that everyone may not consider ideal, yet they can all accept as fair, reasonable, and above all conscionable.
@livinglava,
The 'state' is made-up of people, not vulcans - ALL IS TIED TO EMOTION/RELIGION.
Iniquity RULES!
You reap what you sow.
