After several incorrect tries at a password, my Samsung S8+ did a factory reset. Everything wiped, pics, contacts etc.
I did not remember my google or Samsung passwords, (they are stored in the notes app of the phone.....brilliant huh?).
I changed the gmail password so I can look into whether of not I backed the info up, but it keeps looking at my new s9+ (same phone number).
I have been told recovery software exists, but that some of it is really a way to introduce malware onto your computer. Is there anything I can do?
@GMfitter,
My wife's S8 was stolen. I got her a new one and on phone setup, it asked me if I wanted to restore all the saved settings for the phone. Presto, everything restored, even down to the background screen. Have a rep at the phone store help you, but most of what you lost was probably backed up to your google account.
