Some people have made fortunes through bond trading. In some cases starting in their college dormitories and ending up in a multi-billion dollar hedge fund.

How is that possible?

In stock trading, one can choose a company that then makes a fortune.

But bonds have fixed returns and the bond dealer uses a wide bid-asked spread.

@gollum,
They do have fixed returns. The prices vary widely. So do maturity dates.
