What is the difference between a reporter and a journalist?
Thanks.
A "journalist" has a higher opinion of him- or herself. There is no functional distinction between the two.
@tanguatlay,
A reporter is a journalist who works in either the radio, television, or possibly the internet. Someone working for a local newspaper would not be described as a reporter.
This one is tough. I think of a journalist as someone in the profession of journalism. A reporter is more generic. Not sure Websters would make the same distinction.
You may be a photo journalist, but can't be photo reporter
