The 20-year-old sports no tattoos and describes himself as a “quiet, gentle and soft-spoken guy”. He is waiting to enter a university here this year.
Is "enter" the correct verb?

It is correct, but it's not the only correct verb that can be used in those circumstances, attend would also be correct.
He is planning to attend ...
