rubber eraser

Which word is used by the British/Americans to mean a piece of rubber for rubbing away what's drawn or written in pencil?

@tanguatlay,
The British would be likely to use rubber, while the Americans would use eraser. The British might use eraser, and would certainly understand it. In American usage, "rubber" would not be taken to mean the same thing as "eraser." In American usage, "rubber" is taken to mean a prophylactic sheath, a condom.

@tanguatlay,
In the UK we usually say rubber, although we know what eraser means, in America rubber normally means a condom.
