How do you come up with things to wirte about and get to it sound good?
i dunno. i try to write songs but they all sound rubbish.
Yeah, I get the same.
The best I've written are generally, unfortunately, feelings of resentment and ideas that I've been unable/unwilling to tell anyone.
But oh well, you'll probably think of something eventually
I write the best **** you'll ever hear, and I do it like this:
I come up with a chord progression. Then I hum a melody for a bit, until I feel the song. And then I make it up off the top of my head. Fast, easy, and effective.

good idear
I think child of lights idea is pretty good. Whenever you have something on your mind and you just kind of sing/ramble you can sometimes come up with some pretty good stuff.
well what i do is sit down, listen to some music (instrumentals are good) and write whatever comes into your head - ANYTHING that comes into your head. this is called freestyle writing. at first, this will come out quite messy and with no apparent order, but you can edit it later, and rewrite it with the parts you like.
you sorta disconnect your mind and write. i find that i get some really good stuff with this method.
sometimes, i just go out into the bush, climb into a tree, and sleep/write for a few hours. if you are feeling mellow. this is also good for getting away from family.

I've always said lyrics don't make the song-Melody does. But a taste of lyrics:
