Yellow Vests vs. Macron: who will win and why/how?

Every new headline regarding the Yellow Vests v. Macron struggle seems to revive what seemed like it would fade into a less violent debate by now.

If Macron is indeed serious about maintaining fuel taxes despite violent opposition (which is the right thing to do, imo), how will the negotiations play out and who will ultimately win and how?

E.g. do you think the taxes will eventually be accepted, maybe with some social security concessions; and the Yellow Vests will start adapting their fuel uses to the new paradigm?

Or do you think they will go on protesting and harassing Macron until someone else has to step in and choose a side? If that happens, are there politicians who are sympathetic and will dishonor the spirit of the Paris Climate Accord in deference to fuel-hungry Parisians; and if such politicians gain power, will there be anyone to protest against them in favor of climate reform and thus fuel taxes?
