a) Are there errors in the above sentence?
b) Regarding the bold parts, which is the correct phrase?

The first and third sentences are preferable. In the context of the sentences, "effort" is a countable noun, so the second sentence isn't good.

All three sentences are acceptable, but lose the comma.
If your a republican replace high priest with Trump.
