Once upon a time there was a woman, about 30 years old, married with two children. Like many people, she had grown up in a home where she was constantly criticized and often treated unfairly by her parents.
Should there be a comma after "home"?
Thanks.
No. And not after “woman” either.
@PUNKEY,
the comma after "woman" is indeed necessary...
@tanguatlay,
I think a comma after "criticized" would be a nice touch.
@tanguatlay,
However, for some unknown writerly reason, it seems like a comma would work in this sentence.
Like many people, she had grown up in an orphanage, where she was constantly criticized and treated unfairly by the staff.
@Ponderer,
I don't think it works there either.
@engineer,
You don't have to think it does.
