It is official we can no longer use the following:

“Bring home the bacon”,“Beat a dead horse",“Kill two birds with one stone,” “Be the guinea pig,” and “Take the bull by the horns"

Instead we must say:
“Bring home the bagels”, “Feed a fed horse”, “Feed two birds with one scone.” “Be the test tube.” and “Take the flower by the thorns.”

We don't want to be anti- animal now do we?

@Linkat,
Beat a dead horse: The point being, a dead horse is dead and can't feel anything. Continuing would be gruesome but ultimately also very pointless.

Feed a fed horse: But then you'll get a fat horse. Continuing maybe not so good for the health of the horse, but if you want to make good friends with said horse? This would be one way to do it. So... in a perverted sense, there's a point to the action.

Beat a dead horse ≠ Feed a fed horse.

Don't start or we won't have anything we can say any more.

@farmerman,
This is all in response to a tweet sent out by PETA that got the Internet laughing. https://mashable.com/article/peta-anti-animal-language-twitter/#hEufldl.bmqr

I can appreciate what PETA does. Do they go too far sometimes? Sure.

But, I just got back from the grocery store where I bought cage-free chicken eggs, so that's in part because of PETA and I can laugh at them and appreciate them at the same time.

@maporsche,
I never understood why people put chicken eggs in cages anyway. What are they going to do; roll away?

@maporsche,
all our chickens produce eggs while they are as free as the antelope. Course they make collecting eggs like an Easter Egg Hunt.
A "cage-free egg" is much more golden and high of yolk than are eggs produced by chickens held as political prisoners, and cannto even turn around in their cages
