I took faith in X religion last year.
Does "took faith" in X religion means I became a believer of X religion?
If not, how should I phrase it?
Thanks.
To take faith in is a locution I have never heard. There is a locution to take on faith, which is not really appropriate as it means to believe something with little or no evidence, not something an adherent of any religious confession would be likely to say.
I would just say: "I joined religion X . . ."
