@daverod,
Daniel 10:1 "But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince."
Daniel 12:1 "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book."
Daniel 10: 20 "Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come."
Mikael could be an 'angel' to the Persians or Greeks. Mikael could be a 'Pastor' or 'Evangelist' for Persia or Greece.
Or both 'Pastor/Evangelist' and Prince.
Daniel 12:1 "And at that time shall Michael
stand up, the great prince which
standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book."
This verse does not denote a positive alliance. Mikael shall 'stand up', for, the children ...
shall stand up:

folk, men, nation, people
From amam; a people (as a congregated unit); specifically, a tribe (as those of Israel); hence (collectively) troops or attendants; figuratively, a flock -- folk, men, nation, people.
2 Thessalonians 2:4 "Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."
But even this Mikael is a human being and not a holy angel but could possibly be a Pastor/Evangelist angel. And that could be why he/she exalts himself above ALL others that is called 'God', or is worshipped; so that he, thinking to be God, sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
But no man has seen God at any time.
1 John 4:12 "No man hath seen God at any time..."
John 1:18 "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
