Is "go back" as insulting as "go away"? Or it is simply as neutral as "go home"?

It's closer to "go away" than it is to "go home."
It's along the lines of, "go back (to wherever you came from)."

Given the context of the protesters (and the fact they are called protesters in the first place)? What do you think?

Insulting maybe too strong a descriptor but the whole message from the protesters definitely doesn't have anything neutral about it.

“Go back. We don’t want you here.” is a chant said by some to the people making their way to the US border.

Trump was just being shouted the same thing.
