Who is this mystery actor?

I was looking through some old photographs from my days as a Hollywood stuntman and came across one with two of my best friends, James Caan and Robert Mitchum, laughing and posing in their magnificent cowboy outfits. Those two were always carrying on in such a fashion and seeing this photo brought a tear to my eye.
I remember when Sammy Davis Jr. used to show up and bring James and Robert coffee and doughnuts during filming. But . . . I digress.
Who is the gentleman on the far left in the photo? I don't recall seeing him around the Hollywood studios.
I suspect he was a character actor, thrown into the mix to fulfill the obligatory "Cowboy Threesome Quota", which, for inexplicable reasons, the studios back then found necessary.
But, he looks hauntingly familiar. Might he have broken the character actor line of demarcation and advanced to featured star?

He bears a striking resemblance to John Wayne. I got confused which ' left' we were looking for, sorry.

The gentleman in the picture was a friend and pallbearer of Wyatt Earp, which is why I guessed Tom Mix.

I feel a great deal of discomfort knowing that I have caused my beloved friend glitterbag confusion over the order, left to right, of the cowboy characters. The fact that she correctly identified John Wayne, even though she was confused over the order, right to left or left to right, is, in my opinion, one of the greatest achievements of celebrity identification that I have yet encountered.

Well a lot depends on where you are standing while viewing the photo. For instance, I'm facing the front and I'll bet you are facing the other side. It's not as easy as you think, plus I'm not sure which side of the equator you call home.

Yeah he was the cousin of Jim Morrison and maybe the nephew of the man who owned Tara, that Tom Mitchell fellow.
